Meet The Team
Karen Potter is a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents (FNAEA), recently marking her 40th anniversary of when she first started in the Industry.
Karen grew up in Southport and after leaving school, went to College, then in 1982 to become Office Junior in the historical and highly respected Estate Agent, Hatch & Fielding. Following promotion, Karen subsequently went to work for the prestigious Firm of H. H. & J. Robinson in Waterloo, Liverpool; finally moving to yet another long-established Southport Firm in 1987. The vast experience she gained from working, for what was very much; “Old School” standards of Chartered Surveyors provided her with valuable foundation upon which she has now been able to build an enviable reputation. It is worth mentioning that Karen broke new ground when she became the first female Property Valuer (and the youngest) in Southport. She worked tirelessly, eventually becoming the first and sole female Equity Partner in what was then one of the largest and most successful groups in the North West.
Karen was at the forefront of winning a highly coveted Chamber of Commerce Award for her work in “Business In The Community”; has organised successful Charity Events and was the first Lady Chairman, then re-elected, of the Southport and District Surveyors and Estate Agents Association from 1995. More recently, Karen was nominated by Southport’s previous MP, Damien Moore, to represent the town in recognition of her accomplishments throughout her career, consistently breaking down all barriers in front of her. She was awarded this accolade and attended Parliament in 2022 for the official ceremony, continuing to attend Parliament each year to meet with like-minded female entrepreneurs.
She continues, since 2002, to be Spokesperson for the North West, providing information to the Bank of England over current housing trends and is also proud main sponsor of the Craven Minor Junior Football League which was established over 50 years ago.
Karen brings an unparalleled breadth of experience to her work, which partly explains the growth and consistent success of her business in such a highly competitive market. Her drive, energy and vision have created a superb “quality of service” for each and every client.
From a fledgling Agency, under Karen’s guidance, the business has steadily expanded and is duly recognised as one of the best in the region.
Matthew joined us in 2016 bringing with him extensive knowledge gained from 10 years previous experience valuing property in and around Southport. His reassuringly friendly and highly approachable manner, together with extensive knowledge of property values and market trends has already proved to be a considerable asset.
A Graduate, Matthew brings a confident approach to the complexities of buying and selling property and is able to offer all our clients the best advice, at just the right time. Efficient and effective in his work, he is a safe pair of hands now looking forward with optimism to meeting new clients, customers and the sustained growth and continued success of Karen Potter The Estate Agent.
Outside of work, Matthew’s passion for buildings is put to the Lego test by his young son, whilst his wife, daughter and new puppy keeps him on his toes. A distinctly average golfer and dedicated Everton fan with a liking for spicy food, Matthew enjoys being part of this strong, positive team and part of a forward-thinking Company that shares his professional work ethics. He also enjoys the endless cups of Office Tea on offer and is proud owner of two monster-size Karen Potter mugs so he doesn’t have to keep getting up to replenish.
Paige has been with us since 2018 and loves the variety this role gives her as she’s either in the office dealing with sales and enquiries or out valuing and bringing in new business. She’s skilled at filming and editing property videos with a keen eye for detail and property staging, enjoying advising new Clients on simple “tricks of the trade” in property presentation and how to maximise all potential sales opportunities with those crucial first impressions.
Paige’s previous experience has consistently been in the Customer Service Industry and she is driven by doing a great job for her clients and customers to ensure everything is as easy as possible on their journey to their new home.
A keen animal lover, Paige appreciates the gorgeous town she was born and lives in and loves enjoying walks along the beach watching the sun go down.
Paige’s Mum, Karen, looks forward to Paige continuing to enjoy being part of the “Team KP”.
Anna joined us in 2017 having relocated from Thornton Cleveleys to Southport with her family. She has drawn upon her previous role as a Customer Service Assistant in a large Department Store in Southport to maximum extent at Karen Potter Estate Agents.
Anna understands the importance of great Client service and constantly strives to deliver this, knowing the difference it can make to buyers and sellers alike.
Anna is a keen photographer and loves spending time with her now-fully-grown Golden Retriever “puppy”, Jasper. She loves travelling, spending time with her family and catching up with friends, however, she admits her guilty pleasure has to be relaxing in her pyjamas with a cup of tea and a bag of crisps!
Anna is most certainly a skilled “problem solver” and is a safe pair of hands ironing out property related challenges when they arise. Anna is eager to develop her skills and further understand the complex regulations and legalities of her career.
Katie joined Team KP in 2023 following a career in property conveyancing. Whilst she wanted to take a new direction, she very much wanted to stay in the property industry, which made the decision to join us an easy one. Her extensive conveyancing experience results in a sympathetic and invaluable understanding of the many different circumstances that can arise during that process.
Katie’s background has predominantly been in customer service roles, building relationships with clients. Her main focus is to deliver a warm, friendly approach and to ensure clients have the smoothest possible journey to their new dream home.
Born and bred in Southport, Katie has a great knowledge of the local and surrounding areas. Outside of the office, Katie loves spending time with her family, including her teenage daughter and her two dogs, Alfie and Bailey.
Katie is looking forward to a long and prosperous career within Team KP and looks forward to welcoming our Clients both established and new.
Jemma joined us in 2024 and brought with her a strong work ethic of a positive attitude, striving to ensure our Clients feel at their most comfortable during their time with us. Her previous experience was within the field of customer service during which time she learned invaluable skills in communication and reassuring Clients we’re doing the very best we can for them. These skills, along with Jemma’s bright and sunny personality, are very much welcome in the Karen Potter Team. After finishing her A-levels in English Literature; Sociology and Criminology, she quickly realised that her passion fell within the realm of property sales and her decision to join the Karen Potter Team was an easy one. Her spare time is spent socialising with friends over a glass of wine, enjoying a game of chess, spending time with her two cats – Max and Lola.
The fast-paced learning environment offered through Karen Potter allowed Jemma to quickly adapt to the world of property, enabling her to quickly develop new skills which she is now able to use when assisting our Clients in selling their home and buying their new one.
Christa joined the team in 2025 after a career break, bringing with her a background in customer service and health and social care. It’s an exciting new chapter for Christa and one that really plays to her strengths of supporting people through important life moments.
With her warm and empathetic approach, Christa understands the stresses and challenges that buying a new home can bring. She’s also recently been through the process herself, having sold and bought a home, so she truly understands what clients are experiencing.
Outside of work, Christa is busy tackling renovation projects as she works on creating her perfect forever home. She also loves travelling and experiencing new cultures whenever she gets the chance. A lifelong Southport resident, she raised her now-grown family here. When she’s not spending time with them, she’s usually with her two rescue dogs.
Reece joined Karen Potter The Estate Agent in January 2026 as Sales Negotiator, bringing with him a strong background and genuine passion for customer care.
Previously, Reece worked as a Guest Experience Manager at an independent hotel in Southport , where he developed excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of what makes people feel valued, supported, and at ease throughout their journey.
Born and raised in Southport, Reece has an in-depth knowledge of the town and surrounding areas, which allows him to confidently guide clients and offer valuable local insight. He takes pride in ensuring every client feels relaxed in his capable hands and is committed to doing a great job at every stage of the sales process.
Outside of work, Reece enjoys hiking, fishing, and walking his two dogs, Otis and Delilah. He has also recently become a proud father to a baby girl and loves spending quality time with his growing family.
Jim is a newcomer to the Business of Estate Agency but already considers it to be a second career. Having been a Special School Head teacher for 25 years he appreciates the importance of working with a mutually supportive team and was delighted to find this readily available at Karen Potter The Estate Agents.
Indeed, that support was immediately evident in the careful, thorough and patient training provided for the position of “Accompanied Viewer”. Prior to working for Karen Potter, Jim had “seen the other side of the coin” and was delighted to achieve the sale of his luxury Apartment, through KP The Estate Agent, in less than 24 hours from first advert! As a satisfied customer he knows that you can’t get better than that!
Interested in all aspects of “property” the real bonus for him is the opportunity to meet so many new people in such a variety of settings. Jim’s street geography has improved to the extent that he could now give a “Southport Cabbie” a run for his money. …….After eating school dinners for more than 40 years Jim has developed a passionate regard – for custard – and all those traditional “comfort” puddings.
Debby has been part of our team since 2020, specifically showing the properties we sell to buyers who appreciate her passion for interior design. With over 35 years experience in the soft furnishing trade, she has a passion for people, property and interior design which is invaluable when using her creativity in highlighting potential for improvements to some properties to our buyers. She loves the variety her role provides and the wide range of interesting buyers she deals with.
Debby has lived in Southport all her life and her high school days were shared with Karen. Despite her busy life she finds time for her hobbies which include photography and baking. A few years ago Debby ran a workshop for adults and children teaching cup cake decoration and piping skills. If that wasn’t enough, she even managed to reach round 2 of the selection process for competing in the Great British Bake Off!
Ian’s professional experience prior to joining “Team KP” included almost 35 years of service as a skilled Locksmith and Joiner, which is often useful given the considerable number of properties we have needing different “nacks” in dealing with the locks! He often shows properties within apartment blocks where he fitted the door entry system and smiles as he says it’s good to see they’re all still in good working order! Ian has lived in Southport since the age of 7 and thoroughly enjoys this new direction in being part of our Accompanied Viewings Team; particularly all the people he meets during a typical day. He loves the variety of this work in that one appointment he can be showing a tired house needing lots of imagination to improve it yet the next appointment could be a beautiful, fully renovated home.
In his spare time Ian plays bass guitar for a rock band and with 75% of his “gigs” being performed locally, he can be seen (and heard) at various venues within Southport. Any other spare time is spent enjoying his family.
In loving memory of Ted, who sadly went to sleep late December 2022.
Edward Hayward – Affectionately known as Ted to his furr-ends. We didn’t choose Ted, he chose us, and we were delighted he did. Ted earned the coveted title of Office Cat and could often be found on our doorstep waiting for us to start the day. He had the shortest journey to take each morning as he lived next door.
Despite his regular cat-naps, he was the consummate purrfessional, supervising all operations and lapping up the attention from our clients, customers and staff.
Sorely missed.
